The AXIO LE system provides all the professional HD I/O you’ll need, including component HD/SD, SDI-SD/HD, 1394a, S-Video, Composite video, AES-EBU and XLR audio ins and outs. In addition, the AXIO LE supports uncompressed SD/HD, MXF, the new P2 formats, and 24p. XDCAM support has just been added. Get it with Premiere Pro CS3, Production Studio Premium, or even the Adobe Master Collection.

The Matrox RT.X2 is built upon the AXIO technology, without some of the I/O options. It supports HDV cameras and decks with it’s native MPEG-2 I-frame editing. You also can have a realtime HD 1920 x 1200 output to an inexpensive DVI-D monitor for checking your work by using the onboard DVI-D connector that is on the RT.X2 card. If you own an HDV camera, this is your solution.

If you are not ready for HD, and don’t need some of the extra encoding options available, with the RT.X2 HD, then you should select the RT.X2 SD.
