Each of our case solutions include a small 3.5" bay in the front. We offer a couple of different options for this bay.

You can choose a Kiosk Quality USB 3.0 card reader with (1) USB 3.0 port that supports all popular memory cards including SD cards used by today's consumer and professional cameras. The second choice for the upper bay is a (4) port USB 3.0 hub.

The third choice is an external card reader combined with the (4) port USB 3.0 ports.

All of our support offerings all include Remote Tech. This service allows us to log into your system with your permission and troubleshoot any issues just like we were sitting in front of the system.

Case

We offer 3 different cases for your AVID Media Composer system.

system Our cases are made of high quality components which maximize airflow and are practically silent. Each of our options include ‘front removable’ hard drives. This unique feature allows easy replacement of media storage drives and easy upgrading as your needs change without every opening the case.

Our first case has (4) Front accessible removable SATA bays, a 900W Platinum Rated High Efficiency power supply, and 2 additional bays for DVD/Blu-ray optical drives, USB hubs, and more.

Our second case offers (8) Front accessible removable SATA bays and includes a 1200W Platinum Level High Efficiency power supply. Easily add up to 80TB of storage in the same system as a RAID-0 or 40TB as a protected RAID-10.

Choose our third option for a rackmount configuration of the same (8) bay case with rack rails included.

Our power supplies are all Platinum LEVEL 94% Efficient. This means that they output 94% of the power they take in.

Chipset

This AVID Media Composer system is based on Intel's 'Skylake-X' platform.

The X299-II chipset supports multiple nVME SSD drives that deliver speeds up to 2500MB per second read and writes, faster native memory speeds, USB 3.1 Type C Gen2, and optional Thunderbolt 3.

CPU

In this section you can choose your Intel Core i9 CPU for your Media Composer workstation.

Our base CPU is the Core i9 10900X which features an 8 Core/16 Thread processor.

The Core i9 10940X is our sweet spot for your AVID system offering 14 Cores and 28 threads.

System RAM

You can make your System RAM selections below:

For this system, we offer a 16GB, 32GB, 64GB, and a 128GB option using the latest DDR4 standard. DDR4 offers much higher bandwidth at a lower voltage.

The amount of RAM can impact your workflow. If you mainly work in SD/HD up to 1080P without a lot of filters or effects, then 16GB is a good starting point. The 32GB option is the sweet spot for 1080P sequences and helps with 4K.

Media Composer will use as much RAM as you have in your system.

If you use Premiere or After Effects for multi-layer projects in 4K and above, then select the 64GB or 128GB option.

Keyboard Type

In this section, you can make your keyboard and mouse choice.

Our standard keyboard is a comfortable slim keyboard from Logitech. You can choose a wireless mouse along with an illuminated wireless keyboard from Logitech.

The LogicKeyboard options give you your application shortcuts imprinted on the key caps. This is the easiest way to lean the shortcuts that will save you time when editing.

If you already have a keyboard you wish to use, just 'uncheck' the default keyboard selection.

System Drive

This DreamStation now comes standard with a nVME SSD for a System drive or your 'C: drive'. The System Drive contains the Windows OS and your program files. Since your DreamStation is a multi-drive system, a smaller system drive is OK since you other drive volumes are used to store media assets and projects. The nVME SSD drives use a special slot on the motherboard and are smaller than a stick of RAM. These drives offer a direct PCI-e connection for up to 3000MBs read and 2500MBs write speeds!

Spare/Render/Cache Drive

The Render-Spare Drive is not required for your Media Composer workstation, but it's a good idea to have.

Using a separate storage for exports will decrease your render times. We point all the Media Composer cache files to this export drive if you select it.

Primary Bay Option

You can choose aBlu-ray recorder that supports BD-RE at 16x, DVD's at 24X and CD's at 48X.Alternatively, you can choose a standard DVD Recorder that also burns CD's.

Windows 10 Pro includes built in burning functions.

You may also choose not to have an optical drive at all.

Secondary Bay Option

This is where you can choose an option for your secondary bay. Options include a (4) port USB hub, an additional optical drive, or nothing at all.

In some cases, this bay may be unavailable depending on the number of storage options chosen.

Display Adapter/GPU

In this section you can pick your Display Adapter/GPU. This is the part of your system that connects your monitors and plays many important roles in your AVID Media Composer workstation. For optimum compatibility and qualified support with AVID Media Composer, we offer nVIDIA QUADRO GPU cards for this system. The amount of RAM on a GPU is important for 4K and above.

The nVIDIA Quadro P2200 is our 'sweet spot' card for AVID Media Composer. The P2200 offers 1024 CUDA cores and 5GB of RAM, and supports (4) DisplayPort outputs. This card works great for both Media Composer AND meets minimum, requirements for Adobe Premiere.

Next, the nVIDIA Quadro RTX4000 is our 'sweet spot' card for AVID Media Composer. The RTX4000 offers 2304 CUDA cores and 8GB of RAM, and supports (4) DisplayPort outputs. This card works great for both Media Composer AND Adobe CC including 4K.

Finally, the nVIDIA Quadro RTX5000 is our top performer. This card offers 3072 CUDA cores and 16GB of RAM, and supports (1) DVI-DL port, and (4) DisplayPort outputs. This card is the optimal performer for both Media Composer, Adobe CC, After Effects, and 3D applications like LightWave or Cinema 4D.

Internal Media Volume

In this section, you can choose your Internal Media Volume drive array. Please note that configurations that have 8 drives require the 8 bay case.

The Media Volume (volume) is where you will store your video, audio, stills, and other media for online editing. Although the Media RAID shows up as one drive letter, it is actually made up of two or more spinning hard drives or Solid State Drives.

We offer 2 types of RAID configurations. We use a multi drive RAID configuration for your media storage because one single hard drive is not fast enough to edit the formats used today in most cases. We use a proprietary 'caching' algorithm combined with our RAID configurations to enhance the multi stream performance. The end result is that you don't have to wait for your storage system to catch up to your creativity.

Media RAID-0: for Performance

In a RAID-0, we use 2 (or more) hard drives and combine them together so they appear as one drive letter (volume) in Windows. This is required for SD/HD/4K editing because a single hard drive is not fast enough. If you take the steps to make sure your important video and audio assets are backed up, then the standard (2) drive RAID-0 is perfectly fine. Hard drives are mechanical, and they can fail. Our systems have numerous external ports for easy connection to USB 3.0, optional Thunderbolt drive arrays. There are many options to keep your media online and available.

Media RAID-10: for Performance and Content Protection

In a RAID-10, we essentially mirror a RAID-0. This is all done in the background with no intervention from you. The UPSIDE to this solution is fast speed with data redundancy. If a hard drive fails in the RAID, all of your projects and media are safe. With our RAID-10 configuration, if a drive fails the system continues to operate without a hiccup, and there is no need to rebuild a RAID-10 array to access your projects and media stored on it. Once you replace the failed drive, the array will be protected again. The DOWNSIDE to this solution is that it is more expensive, and doubles the number of hard drives required to implement it.

In this section you can choose your AVID Media Composer software for your AVID system. All of our systems include installation, configuration, and optimization of Media Composer. If you already own the AVID software, we will gladly install it for free on your new using the trial version. Simply log in to your account to activate when you get your AVID workstation.

The basic annual subscription for Media Composer is only $199 per year. Upgrade to Media Composer Ultimate offers expanded workflows for use in collaborative production environments Media Composer Ultimate offers enhanced integration with solutions such as Avid NEXIS, MediaCentral, access to shared bins, projects, and more. Media Composer Ultimate also comes bundled with ScriptSync, PhraseFind, Symphony, and NewsCutter options which are addons for Media Composer.

Capture/4K Monitoriing

In this section, you can choose an I/O device for your AVID workstation.

Keep in mind that all of our Graphics/GPU cards include the ability to have at least 3 monitors and most support 4 monitors. You can configure AVID Media Composer to use one or more monitors as a real-time preview display. This approach does take away from resources for Media Composer, so an I/O device can make a difference.

For an internal solution, the Black Magic Design Intensity and Decklink products come with a cable bundle for audio and analog inputs and outputs. The Ultra Studio 4K, UltraStudio 4K Extreme, and the AVID DNxIQ are all external rack mountable solutions.

The AVID DNxIQ has real time DNxHR hardware based encoding. The DNxIQ also offers an 'audio' punch in feature directly in Media Composer. The AVID DNxIQ also supports Adobe applications.

This powerful integrated solution features an unprecedented 120dB signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) for stereo line-out and a 113dB SNR for the line-in, providing pristine audio quality never before available in an integrated solution. Operating System

Our workstations are engineered and optimized for Windows 10 Pro 64 bit.

Windows 10 Pro has proven to be very stable and much faster than Windows 7 since it's release in 2015. As part of your install, we turn off the annoying parts of Windows 10.

You won't get suggestions for the latest game and you can control the Windows feature updates and restart times.

Connectivity Options

Our standard configuration comes with (1) wired GigabitLAN port for connection to any router or your Internet provider's modem. The base configuration on this system also includes Wireless 802.11 AC Dual Band with Bluetooth 4.1. We offer a 10Gbe card for connection to storage servers.

Choose the 1394 FireWire port for DV/HDV capture if need a 1394a FireWire port on your system.

The Thunderbolt card adds (2) Thunderbolt V3 ports for use with Thunderbolt devices including drive arrays and the Black Magic Design I/O devices.

Please note that the Black Magic Ultra Studio 4K requires a Thunderbolt card and your Thunderbolt device must be certified for use with Windows 10. Adapters are required for connection to Thunderbolt 2 devices.

Power Protection

Power Protection is often overlooked, but it is important to keep your system running without interruption as well as protecting your hardware AND your data. We offer a UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply), or sometimes called a 'Battery Backup' unit with the specs needed to keep your system safe in the event of a power outage. The UPS also helps to smooth out your incoming power making your system more stable.

Our UPS solution will safely shut down your DreamStation gracefully in the event of a power failure. The system will enter into a hibernate mode and power off after the current state is saved. When you restart, you can make sure you saved any changes and then reboot the system.

Please note that if you intend to use a UPS that you may already own: The UPS must have a minimum AVR rating of 1500VA/900W or damage to the system may occur. Let us know the model number and we can tell you if it is suitable for your system.
